Heat Treatment Guidelines
Critical Temperatures: Ms: 300°C | AC1: 745°C | AC3: 775°C
Normalizing
- Normalizing should be carried out at temperatures between 840°C and 880°C followed by air cooling.
Soft Annealing
- Annealing is performed at temperatures of 680°C – 720°C followed by slow cooling.
Quenching and Tempering
- Hardening takes place at temperatures of 820°C – 850°C followed by water quenching, or
- Hardening at temperatures of 830°C – 860°C followed by quenching in oil or aqueous polymer solution with comparable quenching effect.
- Tempering should be carried out at temperatures of 540°C – 680°C followed by air cooling.
