Weldability
30CrNiMo8 is difficult to weld and should therefore not be used in welded constructions.
Hot Forming
30CrNiMo8 is hot formed at temperatures between 1100°C and 850°C and should be cooled slowly in the furnace afterward.

Heat Treatment Guidelines
Critical Temperatures: Ms: 340°C | AC1: 740°C | AC3: 810°C
Normalizing
- Normalizing should be carried out at temperatures between 850°C and 880°C followed by air cooling.
- Depending on the component dimensions, subsequent tempering may be necessary.
Soft Annealing
- Annealing is performed at temperatures of 650°C – 700°C followed by slow furnace cooling.
Quenching and Tempering
- Hardening should take place at temperatures of 830°C – 860°C followed by quenching in oil or aqueous polymer solution with comparable quenching effect.
- Tempering treatment should take place immediately after hardening to avoid the occurrence of cracks if possible.
- Tempering should be performed at temperatures between 540°C and 680°C followed by air cooling.
Hardening Parameters
