Mechanical Properties and Heat Treatment
Hardness Specifications:
- Delivery Hardness: Typical delivery hardness ≤340HB
- After Heat Treatment: Generally elevated to HB20-50 after cold rolling and subsequent heat treatment
Heat Treatment Process:
Softening Annealing:
Heat to 850-900°C under protective atmosphere for 3h softening, then cool at 10°C/h-20°C/h to 550°C, followed by air cooling.
Stress Relief:
Heat to 600-700°C, hold for 2h, then slow cool to 550°C.
Hardening:
Heat under protective atmosphere to 450-500°C and 850-900°C in 2-step preheating according to required hardness. Select appropriate temperature for austenization, then quench to room temperature (25°C).
Tempering:
Temper at 560°C three times, holding for at least 1h each time, cooling to room temperature (25°C) after each cycle.
Processing Options:
1.3292 can be processed using the following methods:

Grinding: During grinding process, surface quality can be altered and improved. Grinding temperature must be kept below 6°C. PVD coating is advisable to minimize nitriding, oxidation, and build-up, while avoiding carbide and nitride layers.
