Mechanical Properties and Heat Treatment

Melting Point: 1416°C
Elastic Modulus: 190-210 GPa
Heat Treatment Process
Annealing
Heat slowly to 800-850°C, maintain temperature for complete heating, then furnace cool to 480°C and air cool. Resulting hardness: 92 HBS Max.
Quenching
Typically used at 18-22 HRc. Can be hardened through cold work. Quenching medium: oil. Optimal forging temperature: 1150-1200°C.
Tempering
Tempering temperature: 205-649°C. After tempering, hardness ranges from 18-25 HRc depending on temperature used.
