Heat Treatment Guidelines

Annealing (+A)

Hardening (Quenching)
Heat to 1020-1070°C, hold until uniformly heated through the section, then oil quench or air cool. Preheating at 650-700°C is recommended for large sections.
Tempering
Temper at 680-750°C for QT800 condition. Hold time depends on section size (minimum 2 hours). Air cool after tempering. Double tempering may be beneficial.
Stress Relieving
Heat to 650-700°C (below tempering temperature), hold for 1-2 hours per 25mm of thickness, then furnace cool or air cool slowly.
