Particle Metallurgy Steels are produced using two innovative production methods.
HIP
Hot Isostatic Pressed
Atomizing and consolidating loose tool steel powder under high temperature and pressure forming a PM ingot.
Result:
Tool steel with homogeneous distribution of very fine carbides.
Tool steel with homogeneous distribution of very fine carbides.
SF
Spray Formed
Atomizing powder and directing semi-solid atomized powder onto a rotating platen for directional buildup.
Result:
Tool steel with carbides slightly larger than consolidated HIP PM.
Tool steel with carbides slightly larger than consolidated HIP PM.
